A WhatsApp message can appear as "sent" in an internal dashboard while the customer says nothing arrived. Do not start by rewriting the template or resending the entire batch. First separate API acceptance, actual delivery, and customer engagement. Each is a different event, and confusing them can cause duplicate messages and misleading sales reports.
Start with the message event, not the dashboard badge
With the WhatsApp Business Platform, a successful request to send a message does not by itself prove delivery to the recipient's device. Check the message record, available webhook events, or your integration provider's status report. Was the outcome Sent, Delivered, Read, or Failed? Keep the message identifier, attempt timestamp, sending business number, and template identifier when relevant.
The message status reference in Meta's official Postman workspace describes these distinct events and the error information associated with Failed statuses. These are platform-level technical definitions, not Egypt-specific failure statistics or evidence about Mr. AI performance.
A practical decision tree before retrying
If the message is Failed: Record the original error code and details. Check whether the cause relates to permissions, recipient eligibility, messaging-window rules, or account restrictions. Do not assume every failure is temporary. Some require a configuration change or an approved template, not another attempt.
If the message is only Sent: Look for the later delivery status in the logs. Confirm that your webhook or provider actually receives and displays status events. A request accepted by the API should not be counted as delivered just because your application recorded a successful submission.
If the message is Delivered but unanswered: This is not necessarily a delivery problem. The customer might be busy, undecided, or uninterested. Review relevance, timing, and permission before planning any follow-up.
If the message is Read: Reading is not consent, a booking, or a purchase. Track commercial outcomes separately.
An example from an Egyptian online store
Imagine a store sends shipping updates to 90 customers. Its internal report counts 90 send attempts, but the delivery log includes several Failed outcomes. Ninety is a hypothetical illustration, not a customer result or benchmark. The operations owner examines the failed attempts by error category while avoiding resending messages already confirmed as delivered.
When a corrected retry is justified, give it a new attempt identifier linked to the original customer request. This prevents a retry from becoming a fictitious new order or sales opportunity.
When the 24-hour customer service window matters
The WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy, updated September 23, 2026, allows free-form replies within the customer service window that opens or refreshes when the user messages the business. Business-initiated messages outside that window require approved templates. If a follow-up fails outside the window, review its type, the recipient's permission, and the approved template before retrying.
Not every failure is caused by this rule. For a template that was never approved, read the template rejection guide. For a previously approved template that was paused, see the template quality recovery checklist. For a wider platform disruption, use the messaging continuity plan.
What an operations dashboard should measure
Separate send attempts, accepted requests, delivered messages, failed messages, customer replies, and qualified sales opportunities. Add recurring error reasons, the responsible owner, and time to resolution. Otherwise a campaign can look successful in a sending dashboard while the customer experience is deteriorating.
Where Mr. AI fits, and where it does not
According to the current product FAQ, Mr. AI helps teams reply from company knowledge, follow up, review conversation summaries, and intervene when human judgment is required. We do not claim that Mr. AI automatically fixes Meta error codes or guarantees delivery. Investigate the messaging platform or provider first, then use the Mr. AI trial to assess how your team can organize qualified conversations and follow-up.
