A customer writes to your WhatsApp inbox: "Delete our entire conversation and everything you know about me." Replying "deleted" after removing the chat from an agent's screen is a shortcut that may be false. A conversation disappearing from an inbox does not prove that every stored copy has been erased. A reliable workflow establishes what the customer means, verifies the requester, maps the relevant systems and checks retention obligations before confirming an outcome.
Separate stopping messages from deleting records
"Stop sending offers" is a communication preference. "Delete my conversation history" concerns stored information. A customer can request both, but completing one action does not automatically satisfy the other.
The WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy, updated September 23, 2026, requires businesses to respect requests to stop communications. Erasure and retention require a separate review of actual records and applicable law. Do not treat a marketing opt-out as proof of deletion.
Map where information may exist
An Egyptian service business may have a conversation in its inbox, a summary in a CRM, an attachment in an employee workspace and an order reference in its billing system. These are possible workflow locations, not claims about how Mr. AI stores data.
Create a small request record: reference, receipt date, categories requested, likely systems, assigned reviewer and next customer update. Do not copy unnecessary personal details into the request log itself. If someone requests deletion on behalf of another person, access to the same phone number does not automatically establish authority.
Verify identity without collecting more than necessary
Confirm that the requester is the data subject or is authorized to act for them. Use verification proportionate to the information involved. The UK's ICO guidance explains this approach. It is a useful operational reference, not Egyptian legislation.
Ask the data owner or legal reviewer whether some records must be retained for a documented reason, such as invoicing or an active dispute. Do not promise to erase everything before that review. The ICO's erasure governance guidance recommends defined ownership, documented procedures and attention to information shared with third parties. UK legal deadlines must not be assumed to apply in Egypt.
Send a progress update, not an unverifiable guarantee
Tell the customer the request has been received, the scope and systems are being reviewed, and the team will confirm the outcome after verification. Handle any request to stop marketing separately.
After review, document what was actually deleted, what was retained for an approved reason and what remains unresolved. If your team cannot verify deletion from backups or third-party systems, do not claim that every copy has been permanently removed.
Mr. AI's role and limits
The product FAQ describes company-informed replies, conversation context and human handover. Those published capabilities do not establish an automated, end-to-end deletion process across all connected systems. Keep deletion decisions with authorized staff and verify technical capabilities before making promises.
For marketing suppression, read the WhatsApp opt-out workflow. For supplier evaluation, see AI chatbot security questions. Test Mr. AI with non-sensitive sample data before designing a production workflow.
Scope: Operational guidance for businesses in Egypt, not legal advice or a product deletion guarantee. UK references illustrate governance rather than local legal requirements.
