# Configure the incoming message debounce delay
## What is the Incoming Message Debounce Delay in Mr. AI?

It is the number of seconds the system waits after an inbound message before generating an AI reply. Rapid messages are combined into one request. The default is 3 seconds and the allowed range is 2 to 30 seconds.

- Lower values reply sooner.
- Higher values collect more message fragments.
- Start with 3 seconds and adjust after reviewing real chats.

## How to use it

1. Open Settings and System Settings.
2. Find Incoming message debounce delay.
3. Enter an integer from 2 to 30 seconds.
4. Save settings.
5. Test by sending two or three rapid messages from an external account.

> **Important**
> A longer delay reduces fragmented replies but increases waiting time. Do not choose 30 seconds by default without testing.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I set it to zero?

No. Both the interface and backend enforce a minimum of 2 seconds.

### When should I increase it?

Increase it when customers commonly split one thought into short messages and AI replies before they finish.
